Lethbridge Transit has an exciting career opportunity for a Transit professional who is looking for a new challenge in an organization that values work/life balance, champion’s employee development and offers exciting advancement opportunities. Lethbridge Transit operates a fleet of 43 conventional buses, 21 Access-A-Ride vehicles and 44 school buses.

The Customer Care and Administration Manager reports to the Transit Manager and is responsible for:

  • Managing  the dispatching of Transit and operators
  • Administering the Transit department Travel Training program
  • Customer service issues regarding bus stop amenities, customer concerns and commendations
  • Department KPI’s and GreenTRIP analysis and reporting, as well as, departmental statistical reporting
  • General and direct supervision of staff including absenteeism tracking, reporting, labour relations and contract negotiations
  • Supervising the accounts receivable and payable functions
  • Assisting in the development, monitoring and reporting on grants and special projects, as well as, providing financial monitoring reports and tools as required
  • Liaising with external departments and associations to develop and maintain partnerships
  • Provide support and rotational back-up to other members of the Transit Management team, including the Transit Manager
We are looking for candidates with the following desired qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in transportation planning, business or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of recent and progressive experience relating to transit and specialized transit. Experience with school bus operations an asset
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory role
  • Experience and thorough understanding of dispatch operations
  • Proven ability to foster a collaborative and positive team environment
  • Proficient analytical and critical thinking skills to examine systems, emerging situation and develop innovative solutions
  • Excellent relationship building skills, particularly in an unionized setting
  • Effective communication and computer skills
  • Strong public relations & service skills
  • Membership in appropriate professional or business association

What is S&P/TSX Composite Index?

S&P/TSX Composite Index

The TSX stock exchange defines an index as a statistical measure of the state of the stock market, based on the performance of certain stocks. The performance of the index is typically viewed as a broad indicator of the direction of the economy. Originally known as the TSE 300 the composite index was created in 1977, with a base level of 1000 as of 1975. Through the years the index consisted of a sample of 300 companies, though the companies that comprised the index varied from year to year. Stocks were dropped when they no longer met exchange requirements for size and liquidity.

Effective May 1st, 2002 the index has been managed by Standard & Poor's Corp. of New York. The name was changed from the TSE 300 to the S&P/TSX Composite Index. Along with the S&P branding came new rules. Tougher criteria for meeting size and liquidity standards were imposed and there is now no fixed number of companies in the index. Since May 2002 the number of companies has dropped from 300 to 212 as of November of 2003.
